I am brewing a double IPA this weekend with a O.G 1.086. The yeast I'm using is Wyeast 1272 I'm making a starter but was wondering if I should use 2 yeast packets. Any thoughts ....?
So this is the packaging. Without opening the bag they feel a little smoochy I'm guessing that they're fine. Regardless looking forward to working with this ingredient thanks again for the advice
CHEERS !!
This is a Dry Dock Pro Series clone from Northern Brewer. I brewed last Saturday and all is well, it's bubbling away. I'm not sure how " fresh " the beans are. I bought them from my LHBS - Brewers Best brand he had on the wall. If it's a dried product how fresh could the importance be?? Granted...
Thanks advice, I got the recipe from iBrewMaster2. Looking forward to this weekend I think I'm on the - more vanilla the better side. Fingers crossed [emoji482][emoji482]
I'm brewing a vanilla porter on Saturday and it calls for 1oz of vanilla beans in the secondary. I've never used them before and was wondering how most people would prep them. Chopped up?/ Spit down the middle?

I've used WLP 400 a few times the only big thing I could say is that is a slow starter. Be patient and keep your temps where it needs to be 65-75. Primary 3-4 weeks.
I brewed a white IPA today with a final gravity of 1.072. When I poured it into my 6.5g Big Mouth Bubbler fermenter I ended up with 6 gallons. I just topped it off with the yeast I had on the stir plate and it's creeping up there to the top. My question is when fermentation begins will I lose...
Thanks for the reassurance guys. Between work and two young kids feel like I've been getting a little sloppy when I'm brewing. Glad to know I'm not way off.
Thanks again
Hey so 2 weeks ago I brewed an ipa with an a o.g of 1.070. I made a yeast starter that sat for two days on a stir plate. Today I thought to rack onto my secondary and dry hop for another week or so. I took a reading and my gravity was at 1.016. I never brewed a beer in the 70's before and was...
