Recently used the A07 Flagship for a 7% Galaxy/Amarillo IPA. It went from 70 to 13, so just over a 80% AA in 14 days. Was still fermenting but didn't want it going much further. I have to say this made the best IPA I've made. It's a real juice bomb. Should also say I split the batch to test out...
I just had a batch go bad in my glass carboy. I feel confident the carboy was the issue because this was a 10g batch and the other 5g batch turned out great but this one was a bit cheesey/buttery. Some funk got in there and I'm baffled. I always soak over night with Oxy and then use star San...
Among the group we were 50/50 on which we liked better. The California was sweeter than the British yeast. I thought the CA one tasted more like Easy Jack. But also over the past 2.5 weeks the British one has changed quite a bit, in a good way. Seems like the flavors are coming out more.
I...
Wanted to give an update on this beer. We fermented it with WLP001, mostly because that was what we had around. It fermented down to 1.004! Which made it a pretty strong session beer at 4.8%. When we first took the lid off the fermenter, I thought we were going to get knocked out from the...
I thought the color looked dead on. Their ingredients called for 35L and I could only find 30 and 40. So I used an equal amount of both. Think I should rack it to secondary before dry hopping?
I brewed the above recipe last Friday. Hit all the numbers and the brew went great. I actually made a 10g batch and split it into 2 fermenters and used English yeast in one and CA ale yeast in the other.

Great thread and I wanted to make a run at this recipe based on what others have tried to date. Any thoughts on the recipe below:
Batch size: 5.5 gallons
OG: 1.045
Efficiency: 72%
8 lbs pale malt (2-row). 82%
10 oz Munich malt 6%
6 oz c30L. 4+%
5 oz carapils. 3+%
5 oz malted wheat. 3+%
4 oz...
Brewed this weekend and was able to get about 5 gallons of second runnings from the barleywine. The post boil OG was 1.040, which I didn't think was bad considering I didn't add any additional grain or DME. Hopped with Willamette, Fuggle, and EKG. Tried to make a English Bitter, so should be...
Thinking of brewing up this recipe this weekend and I wanted to get some ideas on what kind of beer could I make with the a second running of these grains and a possible addition of other grains to this mash tun:
American Barleywine
Ingredients for 7 U.S. gallons (26.5 liters)
21.7 lb...
I am a brewing newbie. Only 5-6 extract brews under my belt. So I picked up the Pliney kit from Morebeer. Brewing went great. Primary was in a 6.5 gallon bucket, so there wasn't much activity in the airlock. Decided to check it last night before racking to secondary. Much to my surprise...
I'm still a newbie, only 6-7 batches of extract brewing under my belt. I purchased the Pliney extract kit from MoreBeer. Airlock activity had stopped, never had much(I use a 6.5 gallon bucket), and wanted to see how things were going after 12 days in primary. I opened it up and I could still see...
