    <$20 pH meters

Thanks. I was more concerned with the LCD screen, push buttons, plug ports, etc. I'll give it a go.

    <$20 pH meters

Yes, high quality electronics for 1999. So you have no problem with potentially a 17 year old meter? Just making sure before I spend $50 Thanks for the probe suggestions

    <$20 pH meters

Any suggestions for a decent probe? I read that the 295 has temperature correction, but needs a 3 in 1 probe. Also, how old are the 295's on Ebay? I downloaded a 295 user manual, and it has a 1999 publish date. Is tech this old even worth the money?

    Beer line tubing

I believe NSF61 is for potable drinking water, and NSF51 is for food and beverage. I do not know if beer will react with the polyurethane resin, leaching plastic flavors or flavor transfer. Check with the factory. You can always order samples. LLDPE (polyethylene) resin is NSF51...

    Ventilation help

Check out your local used restaurant equipment dealer, the place that has an acre graveyard of stainless hoods, sinks, and tables. Look for a stainless condensate hood.

    WTB stainless condensate hood

I would check your local used restaurant equipment dealer for condensate hoods. The Fast hood...don't know. No specs on it. Stay away from side exhaust, if possible. It requires more cfm to achieve equal steam capture than a typical top mounted exhaust collar. The Eagle hood is your...

Identifying the cause of my first scorch

I use a 5500 Watt HD element in my BK, and haven't scorched wort...yet. Not saying you did this, but I read a comment on this site awhile back, it makes sense, so I follow it. Don't set your BK element to max when heating first runnings, especially with high OG beers like IPAs. First runnings...

    Will this vent hood work?

That thing needs 860 cfm because it has no capture ability, ie. it doesnt have front, side, rear walls. The glass portion is just for show; it looks great, but doesn't increase capture. Build a box around it and it will capture steam just fine, but that design might drip like crazy. 150 cfm per...

Bottom Drain Keggle - Whirpool and Hop Debris

Strangely, no problems. You would think that the element would burn a hole in the stainer, but it hasn't happened...yet.

Bottom Drain Keggle - Whirpool and Hop Debris

My process using bottom drain BK. 1. Last 15 minutes of boil, put IC inside a 5 gallon paint stainer. 2. Drop the whole thing into BK. 3. Turn on march pump, recirculating wort through center of IC. 4. Turn on IC water supply to cool wort. 5. Once wort is cool, fill fermenter with wort. 6...
