    Empty Co2 tank

I went and exchanged the tank and tightened all fittings. Checked all the fittings with Starsan spray bottle and all seemed sealed up good.

    Empty Co2 tank

Checked on them today after 4 days and my Co2 tank is empty. Was I supposed to turn the gas off after charging the kegs...

Best water efficient way to cool wort.

Thanks for the great info. I think I'll set up with a recirculating ice tub and re-purpose the leftover water as mentioned. Thanks again!

Best water efficient way to cool wort.

I have been extract brewing up until now and just cooled my wort in a ice bath to get temps down. I just purchased a Mash and Boil and need to use another method to cool wort. I have a well for my water source and don't want to run my water for long periods of time just to waste it. Looking for...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I have had mine in the fermentor since March. Is that too long to leave in without bottling?

    Airlock contamination question

I brewed a American IPA a week ago. When I put the airlock into the fermentor I filled it with vodka. This week I noticed it(airlock) was getting low so I decided to add a little tap water. Well I ended up filling the airlock too full. I thought I could tilt the airlock a little and dump some...

    Boil over question??

I ended up topping it off to full volume. It is an IPA so it might be a tad weaker but hopefully still pretty good. I will employ the spray bottle technique with the next brew for sure.

    Boil over question??

Ok...I brewed a American IPA extract kit from MoreBeer this morning and had a boil over. After adding the first 1.5 oz. of Magnum hops the wort erupted into a boil over. Before I could get the pot lifted off of the burner I had lost some of the wort, guessing around 1/4 to 1/2 gallon. Realized I...

Opened beer at 1 week in bottle....so good!

I brewed this same exact kit back in January. It was my first brew ever and it turned out great. I'm down to about 12 bottles left. I since decided it was so hard to let it bottle condition for the appropriate length of time I can never go without brew in the pipeline. I have 2 going now and...

    How to add strawberries

If you look in the recipe database under the fruit recipes there is a recipe for succulent strawberry blonde that has over 200 posts to it. Most brewers that have completed that recipe have racked the primary right on the frozen berries in the secondary. I am in the middle of this brew myself...

    White Labs explosion

O.G. was 1.058. I too was worried about sanitation. It is bubbling away in the closet right now though.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

When you guys talk about adding lactose to the secondary do you just dump it in or do you add water to it and boil it into liquid. I haven't used lactose for brewing yet. I just brewed this tonight and put it into the primary. I want to have everything ready for next weekend to rack onto berries...
