    American IPA Citra Experiment IPA

AWesome Thanks for the feedback - I am thinking - I might replace the bittering hops with Magnum -which is what I usually use for pale ale and other IPA etc. I will post some pics. Planning on brewing it this thursday.

    Barley Crusher Issue

I have had my barley crusher for 3 years. It has worked great. Just yesterday, I go to brew, and I hook up the drill and let it rip. Nada. I checked the direction of the drill etc. Still NDA. It was spinning but not grinding the grain. The setting had not changed. I still had the old...

    First Brew, IPA

Ah. I would not. More messing with it more chance of you getting it infected. Really, if you are not going to rack your beers to a secondary - (I do not on my pales and such - I do on my ipa (for drop hopping and conditioning and freeing up my primaries for more brew :) ) just pitch the yeast...

    First Brew, IPA

If you are not going to rack it to a secondary then def wait at least 10 days maybe 14 before you bottle it. At least I would - Give it time to drop and clear as much as possible. It is not going to hurt a thing having it in there for 14 days.

    First Brew, IPA

Congrats on your first Brew. I am sure it will be excellent. I would just wait couple of more days. And check it again. Are you going to rack and dry hop it since it is an IPA? That would give it more time for the yeast to clean up etc and potential drop your gravity. When you say...

    Oxyclean - Whoops!

I have a 15 gal Aluminum. i have done boils, make turkey stock etc. It will clean right up. Oxyclean was a good start. Trick there is not to do an overnight soak. Get a scotch pad and water and scrub all that white/grey stuff off the sides if there is any... and rinse a lot. You almost...

Hops in Freezer but not air tight

yeah I know old issue. http://brewingtechniques.com/library/backissues/issue2.1/garetz.html I read through this. It sounds like it is not a good idea. Point is ... I think I am getting some off flavors with my cascade. I brewed a basic pale with all cascade (the hops in question) to...

    Gelatin at fermentation temps

I personally like using gelatin for a couple of reasons. 1. I do not like the smell of too much yeast. If I have a hoppy brew this does not matter so much, but when I brew a lighter beer, there is sometimes a more yeasty, fruity, smell that if I use gelatin helps clean up. 2. Gelatin wil drop...

    Kit Question

This is one of those "how bad is it" questions. I got a Vinters Reserve Costal Red to do, my first kit. I put the kit together in a primary 6.5 gal glass carboy. In Nov. I have not touched it since. I was going to do the following: 1. Check the gravity - should be done at this...
