Guinsu,
Thought I would share a story that might make you smile about my brew experience this weekend. I made such a stupid error It is almost embarassing to admit.
I brewed a batch using UNmilled grain. When my original gravity was .018 instead of an anticipated .054 it was hard, but I...
Yoop,
I checked the gravity. I'm at 1.026 (need to be at 1.021 to be 75%) and I have a little krausen now that I'm at 70 degrees (it had gone away at 52 degrees). Close enought to rack? Or would you do as Sloop suggests and let it keep going back at 52 degrees?
Jeff
Hello,
I am new to lagers. Two weeks ago today I brewed a Dopplebock (OG 1.084) and pitched two wyeast smack packs. I had an explosive fermentation and it has been in my heated garage at 52 degrees ever since. The blow off tube was switched to an airlock a week ago, and it has been...
I sampled my second batch today. I reached target final gravity and the beer tasted dry when I bottled. I used 1 3/8 cup of DME to prime. I stored the beer at ~72 degrees for two weeks and tried one today. I assumed it would not be completely ready yet, but was supprised when there was...
I am in the middle of brewing. I just finished steeping grains, added LME and CRAP! The online HBS forgot the maltodextrine!!!. I am nowhere near a HBS so I dont think I can go get any. I suppose I cannot stop at this point can I? There was only 4oz that were supposed to be in the kit so I...
Adding honey during the boil adds sugars that will ferment in the primary. Adding sugar (honey) in the secondary will start the batch fermenting again. I suppose you could add it as bottling sugar, but it might be dangerous if you overcarbonate.
Also, honey would very likely carry yeasts...
I found this forum today and read through some threads that have helped a lot. I am making a Fat Tire clone from "Beer Revealed" as my first batch. Everything went smooth, for the most part, while I was making the wort. I pitched the yeast after I found my OG of 1.048 and felt pretty good...
