Just saw an add for a wine cooler for sale. "Used once. Only gets down to 4degC (39degF) not my idea of ice cold beer". Umm. How cold do you need your beer to be? Frozen?

My city is the 12th most expensive city in the world, unfortunately. And yeah, tax for tobacco and alcohol are insanely high.
The average income is between $50-$70000 depending on what statistics you use.

Funny things (to an Australian) heard about beer.
That's a dream! Even during the cheapest of the happiest happy hours of the worst macros may we see something around those prices.
Pints of craft for under $10 just don't happen.
I paid $17 for a pint of Brew Dog's IPA Is Dead (Amarillo)...
Can't you state your advice that would help him to achieve the best out of this situation without going on about how it's a dumb competition and it's probably going to suck?
Didn't Heretic also do a wort give away at an AHA rally? Was that a dumb idea too?

Yeah. I don't know why people had to make such negative assumptions rather than just ask questions. Seems like an awesome prize to me!

If you're going to leave them for a week or so on gas I don't know why you wouldn't just set and forget.
One week at serving pressure for me it's drinkable. Two weeks at serving pressure it's ready to drink.

Okay. That's accidental or negligence. How many brew shops are going to mill your grain incorrectly on purpose just so you have to buy an extra couple of dollars worth?

Hahaha. Come on, how many brew shops are going to do things that lead to having a poor efficiency. That's the dumbest **** I've seen on this site yet.
What's the benefit? They sell you an extra dollar or two worth of grain?
What's the risk? You figure out what they're doing, never buy from...
It's not going to solve your problem, but I would definitely sit your co2 outside of the fridge, it doesn't look as good but I think its much more practicable.
Regarding the disconnects, it might not be a 100% check but while its connected and you have the gas on grab the gas line and just tug...
What kind of disconnects are you using? Some of the cheap ones really are good for nothing and can leak very easily, especially if its a tight fit and there's a little pressure from hoses pulling on the disconnects.
