What about splitting the difference between boiling and room temp by using hot tap water to measure? I think my hot tap water is about 135, so it's a little closer to room temp. I would guess that the rate of volume change probably isn't linear though, right? Sent from my iPad using Home B

Goose Island IPA is listed by the BJCP as an example of an English IPA. I like it - it's definitely different than American IPAs. I'm also a fan of 3Floyds Alpha King, which I think has a more piney/earthy taste.

With a review like that, this is definitely going on my Christmas list. Like many here, I have a great appreciation for high quality products and customer service, even if they cost a little more. Why did you go with that particular probe? It looks like the Heavy Duty one (3rd one down) is also...

Do you have a bottling bucket? Maybe you could rig up a filter on the inside of the faucet, rack into the bottling bucket, and then just open the faucet with a hose into a clean carboy. Let it sit all day and let gravity do its thing.

I'll jump on the RO train. I rent a system with a 3 gal tank from Culligan for $21/month. Seems expensive but they come and service it every year and change all 4 filters for no additional charge. The guy came last week and said I could get a 9 gal tank for a little more, so I don't have to...
