    Proper size for false bottom?

Hey Everyone, I am looking to buy a pot to use as a mash tun, but the one I am looking to buy is 13 1/2 inches in diameter. I am having trouble finding a false bottom that will fit it perfectly. Do I have to find a different sized pot or can I use a slightly smaller false bottom, maybe like...

    2 beers 1 cake question

Agreed. I think that the lemongrass flavor would be more noticeable in the hefe, than the citrus/corriander in the wheat ale, since lemongrass is pretty strong.

    Ooops, I dropped my hydrometer!

You are better off waiting, rather than taking it out of the fermenter too soon. From what you posted, I am guessing you aren't doing secondary, so I would suggest another two weeks.

    Just how bad is LME?

I feel you would try selling me a porter if you had the chance! But seriously, just choose sources that are reliable, just like you would with any research. HBT is of course a good place to start.

    Just how bad is LME?

I know you said you buy 5-6 recipes worth of ingredients at a time, but you may want to consider buying less at once. I typically buy 2-3 at a time, which saves on shipping, but allows me to use it before there is a chance it will go bad. How long do you plan to keep it?

    Just how bad is LME?

I They say that if you don't use it for a while to refrigerate it. That's what I do with mine and then I just put the container in hot water to liquify it more before I add it to the boil

fermentation temps: have i made a mistaske?

In that case , it may actually be finished with primary. I have used munton's in several of my beers and I have always had a fast fermentation, even with colder temps. Typically people use champagne, wine, or cider specific yeasts for brewing cider and those yeasts ferment at a higher temp. You...

    Just how bad is LME?

I have used LME for all of my beers and they have turned out great! You just have to make sure you get fresh stuff, like YooperBrew said. I regulary get my supplies from Midwest and they have pretty good turnover, so all of my ingredients have always been fresh. Not to bash any of the smaller...

    Christmas Beer Exchange

My dad lives in Hamburg, which is like 20 minutes from Allentown. I have been dying to try anything from Three Floyds, but I can never find it anywhere. You wouldn't happen to remember where you bought it, do you?

    Christmas Beer Exchange

Hey thanks. Is there any style of beer that each of those breweries are known for? I actually haven't heard of either of them and I am trying to get the best of the best.

    Hey Everyone

Well, so far, I have brewed a pale ale, sweet stout, hefeweizen, pumpkin ale and now I am working on a cherry stout for the holidays.

    All-Grain Brewing Starter Equipment?

Hey, thanks Boerderi. I'm not really sure how much this stuff typically costs, but I would say right now I could spend about $300, which is considerably less than what you said your systems would cost. I am also looking to brew 5 gallon batches since that is the size that the rest of my...
