This flat false bottom is perfect for a keggle mash tun build. You could use it in a flat bottomed kettle but it would need a stand. It has a 1/2 inch hole drilled in the center for adding a dip tube (not included)
I got it with my keggle but use a cooler mash tun so this is just sitting by...
Quite a bit. I have a Smokin Tex. It's an electric smoker which I was skeptical of because I grew up using a whole hog trailer smoker, but it turns out great BBQ. The only thing missing is a smoke ring, which is really just a sign of carcinogens being present from combustion. I've recreated it...
A second tap for my kegerator. No I don't have to deal with the party tap into fridge...at least until I make the next logical step and keg a third beer.
Just need to get a longer drip tray now.
This is the blow off on my black pale ale recipe creation. Can't wait to try this one. It tasted great going into the fermenter. It is fermenting like crazy as you can see from the picture.
Welcome! where are you from in Central PA?
Do you have it in a bucket or carboy? if it isn't an exact fit air could be getting out elsewhere or the fermentation is just slowing down. I normally notice super aggressive fermentation 6-8 hours after pitching my 1 liter starters, high krausen...
I hadn't thought of that.
Using the calculator at http://www.rackers.org/calcs.shtml i found to use my 5 gallon mash tun with the 16.66lb grain bill, i'd have to go with .9 qt/lb. Do you think that will be too thick? I could maybe drain a gallon and then top off and do another rest if that...
Going to try to make a toned down wookey jack clone I think. Don't have the room in the mashtun for the full grain bill so I am going to make it a black pale ale instead of black ipa. hopefully it works out and is similar enough to the regular thing.
I have had it happen to me with a couple kegs. Especially if I don't cold crash long enough before transferring to the keg. My thought is that as the keg sits in the fridge it gets clearer because everything settles out and a trench clear of debris forms in the bottom that the beer is drawn...
