I am a new Brewer. This is my 5th batch of beer. It's my attempt to clone the southern Pecan beer. I read online and it seems some people add fire roasted pecans to the secondary.
Two questions, how do I fire roast pecans lol and how do I add then to a secondary? I'm concerned with the beer...
Easiest ways for me was ammonia. It's cheap smells like crap but when soaked for 24 plus hours labels just fall off. The glue you can just wipe off with your hand. Best part ammonia is dirty cheap. Biggest problem is that it smells horrible, so do it outside.
Second way is to soak it in PBW...
Your right, your not using a mash. The pumpkin really is optional. My understanding it only gives a slight flavor. Ite mostly color and mouth feel. As far as adding spices add during the boil. Probwlly after you add everything else. I added 1tsp cinnamon 1tsp pumpkin spice at boil then 1/2tsp...
Wow bookmarked! I never found that in all my googling lol. Thanks a ton!!! Results is .58 or 1/2 a cup for 5 gallons. Glad I asked guy told me To use 3/4 cup. I didn't want bottle rockets in my house.
You need to put the pumpkin in the mash. Normally a partial mash. Northern brewery has a free video on how to do it on their website with the pumpkin kit. I am about to bottle my first batch of pumpkin ale tonight! Good luck.
I am bottling a pumpkin ale tonight and I am going to use dark brown sugar. I have read all over the forums and no one says exactly how much to use. I need a measurement for 5 gallons of beer! Any help would really be appreciated.
I used 3oz of fuggles in my last batch then 1 oz goldings at the end for aroma. Technically that makes you beer fall under the "English Bitter" thats what I was aiming for anyways. I think its just another name for pale ale. Definitely not a IPA because the AA is way to liw as mine was 4.7 I think.
I am completely new to home brewing, and have only made two batches. I have a 5 gallon setup. What are some simple delicious recipes that I could use? Any help would be appreciated thank you

Irish Moss 1 tsp - 15 Minutes
Tettnang (German) Hop Pellets, 1/4 oz - 5 Minutes
