Tennessee WTS 2 Perlick Tap Kegerator with cooled tower and digital temp control

My wife and I have built a much larger kegerator and our old 2 tap dorm fridge conversion is just taking up space. A few months ago I replaced all of the ball lock quick disconnects and lines with new. The lines are 6' each and nicely balanced at 10psi serving. The taps are Perlick 425SS...

Yeast count dropping after increasing starter size!?

Hey everyone, I'm starting to lose my damn mind. I've harvested some Bell's yeast and I've been storing a low number of it for a while now and I plan to brew with it next weekend so I've started ramping it up. Here's a spreadsheet of my cell counts. I'm using the methods described on...

Here's a video of them running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp8B72q5c4U The dang stir bar in the 5L has a pivot ring making it loud as freaking hell.

    3D Printed Stir Plate Build

Finished build, 3 running. All the parts I need. I went with a pretty dang fast (2300RPM) 120mm fan. Speed controller is off Amazon and the rest is 3D printed or screws Getting everything all wired up and into the shell Bought 5/8"x1/4" magnets off McMaster for I think $8 per...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

This is the screen for my lager chamber. My Ale chamber is similar, 'set' to 1*F higher. Even though the reading on the profile is correct and the temp is correct.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Has there been any resolution to the setting reading at 1*F higher when in F? It's driving me nuts even though I know I'm actually at 53 to see the setting at 54.

    Microscope recommendation for yeast counting?

Im an idiot, there's a ton of similar threads showing up under this one.

    Microscope recommendation for yeast counting?

Anyone have advice on a microscope under $150 for yeast counting? I made the mistake of buying some cheap crap on ebay and while I can see the yeast, it's damn blurry and hard to count. Plus I'm manually moving the slide by hand which can get rough at high magnification.

    Starters: Big or ramp?

I didn't plan correctly. I think I'll just make a pale and build this up and chill it and brew with it in next weekend or so.

    Starters: Big or ramp?

I just started looking into lagering as I've finished my fermentation chamber. Holy crap do I need a lot of yeast. I just got a package of Czech Pils but it's from Sept '15. I've got it on 500ml to see if I get any activity and I'm pretty sure it's dead and I'll be brewing a pale with some...

    Starters: Big or ramp?

Thank you :) I'll start making smaller starters and growing them. Should I chill the initial starter and pour off as much spent wort as I can before stepping up? Or just add the difference between the two amounts in fresh wort?

Keezer issue: Compressor on, no cold

I'm in Chattanooga, damn close to you. Though I'm hardly a professional and I certainly cant promise a repair would work or hold. I'm happy to lend you tools to handle it yourself as well.

    Starters: Big or ramp?

Yes, sorry. I always use a stir plate and 1L/100g water/DME concentration.

    Starters: Big or ramp?

Hey everyone. I've always been a fan of making my starters large. For instance a 1.086 IIPA I'm making I've made a 3.5L starter from an American Ale 2 smack pack. I expect 360b cells. A hair over what's required for the beer. I'll save ~50b by vol for another starter. Is there any benefit...

Keezer issue: Compressor on, no cold

Sweet! Thank you for the tip! I'm at about a week now of solid cooling. Though that's an insanely short time. I'd expect a failure in a few months or a year. I had a hole in the evaporator itself too. Took an extra day to get a coat of JB Weld over that. When I was first brazing I was...
