Sibe By Side kegerator/fermenting chamber conversion

I added an heat source also. I use a reptile tank heater to wrap the fermenting carboy in. http://www.reptilebasics.com/heat-tape I believe the Auber controls come with a temp prob. I know the STC does as that is what I used. They work great. I don't know if the models differ but the ones...

    Crown issue ...

If you look at the necks and the area where the crown crimps on to you will see the difference. The area of the bottle on the right has a much smaller area for the crown to crimp on. Now looks at the picture of the crowns on the bottles. The gold crown has a smaller crimp area hence the...

    Show us your Kegerator

That lid would make incorporating a keezer into a bar much easier.

Effects of keg in 12hr car ride

I have taken kegs of homebrew from South Bend IN to Nebraska before with no ill effects.I just made sure all the oxygen was purged with CO2 and away I went.

    Show us your Kegerator

I have been meaning to post this for awhile. I store in both sides. The freezer side is the kegerator while I use the fridge side for both storage and lagering. It began life as an 80's bisque color fridge. I stripped it, painted it, lined it with aluminum inside, and made shelves. It is...

    500ml flask good for what?

I too have a 500ml but also have a 1L. I also just ordered a 4L. I plan to use them when I am creating a starter from frozen yeast vials. Figure since the bottles for the frozen yeast are only 60ml, a 500ml starter to begin with will work well.

    Side By Side Build Keezer/Fermentation

This is great. I have what looks like the same side by side. At least the exact same controls anyway. I left the defrost control intact however and used the stc to replace the thermostat. I love the angle iron shelf and am gonna have to use the same. We have tons of angle iron lying around...

stupid me, just pored priming sugar straight in beer

I used to do it that way when I bottled. I tried it once or twice boiling but couldn't tell a difference. You should be fine.

Side-By-Side Fridge - Fermentation Chamber (with heat)/Keezer combo?

I have converted a side by side also. I am only able to get 3 cornies in the freezer side but mine is an older (80's) model with much less cuft than is available now. I use either a fermwrap or if I am lagering multiple fermenters a small space heater that can one can get for less than $15...

    Lock for keezer

You could mount a deadbolt in your collar with a homemade strike plate inside the collar mounted to the keezer section. It would take a little work but could be done for cheap. The strike plate would just be a flat piece with a hole large enough for the bolt.

    Side by side refrigerator conversion?

I also used the China cheepos for control. I used the power from the fridge light to power the controllers so the defrost does not affect the operation of the controllers. I used the one controller to replace the thermo and the other controls the computer fans and a fermwrap on the fridge...

    Side by side refrigerator conversion?

It does work really well. I haven't lagered yet to see how well it keeps the temp constant in the fermenter but the ambient temp fell really quickly. I am waiting to get some shelves built and my new keggle set up.

    Side by side refrigerator conversion?

My side by side had a hole at the bottom right next to the coils and one at the top. I bought two fans and set them up in a push-pull setup. The bottom pulls cold air into the fridge side while the top pushes the warm air into the freezer side.

    Copper racking cane DIY

Ahh I see. Makes sense now. Sweet looking racking cane though. I forgot to mention that in the last post.

    Copper racking cane DIY

I can't help but think that the copper you used would have been a nice start for a chiller. I see the hose in one picture so you got the ability there already.
