Did you happen to run across if the BrewPi has the ability to receive temps without using the Arduino? I have a rpi with temp probes connected already. I'd like to just use the graphing ability of BrewPi, rather than any of the controlling parts.

It should work. I'm running it on a CentOS server and it works ok there. Have SWMBO check /var/log/apache or /var/log/httpd. I'm running mine on lighttpd, so it certainly works in other environments. Also, make sure she's checking the php.ini for the web server and not the CLI. She can try...

It should work the same, as long as you have the pieces you need. A web server (apache), php for apache, and a mysql db. Mine is running on my droplet. Not yet figured out how i'm going to display it at the keg. Maybe a cheap tablet or something?

Gotcha. In my situation, I have 3 kegs, but only 2 taps. So, one of the kegs might be holding beer and be carbonating, but not actually on the tap. Hence my confusion.

I see that. I had selected Primary, and it switched it to Serving. It seems like there should be a different option for ReadyToTap or something. None of the other statuses describe that state. imo. but, now that I see how it works, i can manage. Thanks again!

That is correct. I changed one of the statuses to Primary and I was able to select that keg. Am I not understanding something? If I put my keg in "Serving" status, why can't I select it on the taps page?

A thought on the recipe, i know several breweries list their recipes, so you could find a brew you like and try to look up their recipe.

IIRC Guinness uses a special yeast and they reharvest that yeast from every batch. So i think that gives their beer a twist that would be very hard to duplicate. For me, i'm so used to stronger stouts and RIS, that Guinness is almost watered down. Have you tried the Guinness Extra Stout, or...

Also, one of the settings is a time limit for cycling on/off. So you could increase that time and it should slow down the cycling. I'm not sure if that works between the hot/cold though. It's F3 "Compressor Delay Time" So, I assume that only works on the cooling side. If you want it to cycle...

In live in Baton Rouge which is similar temps to Houston and I used heating in my fermentation fridge the last few weeks. It was getting too to cold at night and wanted the temps in the fridge to stay above 60. So I used the "light bulb in a paint can" trick, from this link...

I don't get BYO magazine, but I saw the headline that mentions building your own temp controller. If the article actually uses the same parts as the OP, then shouldn't they be called out for copying and not giving credit?

Has anyone devised a method to log when the controller turns on/off?
