My local club and I are brewing up 55 gallons of a Robust porter this weekend. We will secondary all the brew in a 55 gallon oak whiskey barrel. Yummmm!
I brewed up this recipe last Sunday. The only thing I changed was the yeast. I used Ringwood ale yeast. My fermentor is still bubblin today, 9 days after pitching. Most of my fermentations take 3-4 days. Is this because its a bigger beer?
So I put together my homemade stirplate 2 weeks ago, and purchased a 1000ml flask. I boiled maybe 850ml of water with 3 ounzes of DME in the flask, cooled to 70, added a vial of liquid yeast (Ringwood). This gave me the 1000ml needed. I placed tin foil on top and let the stiplate do its job...
