In my pumpkin recipe I found that baking the pumpkin as instructed above worked best in my situation. The only difference was I mixed brown sugar in to caramelize with the pumpkin and then added that to my mash.
I will say that when I rebuild my RIMS, I would switch from the current setup to the tri-clover w/ ss element. Cleaning would be much easier with out having to tape and crank pipes.

If you wanted to go on the budget, nothing wrong with Bayou Classic Stock Pot with your boil coil. It was my setup before going to a triple set of MegaPots. Blichmanns are pretty sweet though.
I have them in my 10 gal mega pots. Works just fine. If you want a more vigorous boil place a lid partial to completely on the top. I get a nice rolling boil with no lid at all though. I usually boil around 6-7 gallons with no prob.
