    Troubleshooting Yeast/New AG

So I have brewed 4 or 5 batches of extract/partial mash that all turned out very well, but recently made the jump to AG (BIAB) and my first two batches with it have been really bad compared to the others. Both batches (Cream Ale, and Smoked Rye Pale Ale) had the same odd flavor that just seemed...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

I bottled first week in May, so about two months now. Mine definitely had a big difference from 1 month to 2 in how it tastes.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Double Chocolate Oatmeal Snout

Thanks for this recipe! I brewed this a few months ago, and it keeps getting better in the bottle the longer I leave it. This was my first stout, and my first partial mash, and it turned out great.

Sanitizing fruit with no rinse sanitizer, can it be done?

A lot of people on here seem to use vodka to sanitize fruit, as it is potable and doesn't affect the flavor significantly (in small quantities).

SteamRunner Saison - Geenius Brewing CO.

I think this is a neat label. I like the pavement theme to go with the running. Running a marathon at altitude sounds like a scary proposition to me. Good luck.

    Clearing Wheat Beers

As far as bottling time, read Revvy's post on the topic: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/bottling-tips-homebrewer-94812/#post1030387 You will see some carbonation at 1 week, but very likely it will not be done. "3 weeks at 70"

reusing coors light home draft system

This one on Amazon is sold by a bike shop and claims to have "food grade gas and can be used in the Cornelius Keg Charger." http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Q5JUJQ/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Though it does appear to be cheaper at Morebeer.com...

    Don't eat hop pellets...

I think I inhaled some Columbus hops during my first brew. I was so excited I re-enacted the Sam Adams commercials from a few years ago (the one where he sticks his face in a handful of hops and breathes in). I could smell the hops for about 3 days after that.

    2010 Sam Adams Winter Classis

I was disappointed in the chocolate bock. Too light/thin for taste. I was expecting something hearty, complex, and potent. Didn't get any of those out of the CB. It was ok, but didn't taste as good as the bottle looked.

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Really? I love that beer, and pretty much anything DFH makes. Granted, I don't think I could drink more than one Raison D'Etra, since it really thick and heavy, but I dig the flavors. Kind of like creme brulee with raisin mixed in. To each his own I guess. Worst overall for me was a...

    DIY Wort Chiller (Immersion)

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up deciding to just keep it simple and am using a garden hose from outside coupled to the vinyl by a 3/4 hose --> 3/8 barb adapter. Works great once I figured out that the reduction in size = a huge increase in pressure, and therefore the hose has to be on...

    DIY Wort Chiller (Immersion)

I am trying to accomplish something similar with my setup. The problem I'm running into is that I haven't figured out the best way to connect the 3/8 copper tubing to the kitchen sink. The guy at home depot was clueless about how to do it and wanted me to buy $40 worth of solid brass...

    Hello from Lake Worth, FL

Hi everyone, newbie here living in Lake Worth, FL. Came across this forum from my local HB shop website and have been lurking for a bit. Looking forward to brewing my first batch soon as I get all my equipment straightened out. Any suggestions for a first (extract) brew? I was thinking...
