    Power cut after sparging..

Just a thought, but what would happen if you were to have some beer fermenting, which ends up tasting a bit sour - probably due to bad sanitising at some point - and you were to just reboil it ? I guess the flavour will already have part of the sourness in there, but then could you do some...

    Power cut after sparging..

Ah, thanks for the replies. I didn't actually realise people do such long mashes, makes my 60 minute or whatever look weak! .. is it just to try and extract more profile out of it ?

    Power cut after sparging..

So I've literally just finished sparging, about to go into boil mode and we have a power cut! Rumour has it'll be around 2 hours before it comes on again. Any suggestions as to what I can do, or will it be fine just to sit there until power is on again and I cam boil?? Thanks

First bottling, Does this look OK?

Ah phew OK, that colour was a bit off putting that's all... Rest went perfect and looked quite decent. Belgium Ale, and I stuck on some manuka honey from Mangrove Jacks... Tasted all right before bottling anyway!

First bottling, Does this look OK?

Hi, I've just finished bottling my first batch! When I was almost done, I thought I should check inside of the fermenter.. The attached pics are what I found... Is tha actually ok like that? I'm particularly concerned about this odd almost purple gunk that was around the top layer of the...

    First look at fermenting yeast..

Hi, based on the above image ...would love some further advice... I have been brewing this Belgium Ale, its been sitting in the fermenter for 6 days now. OG was on target at 1.065 with a final target of 1.010 Airlock bubbling stopped quite fast - probably around the 4th day, so I did a check...

    Ginger beer help

Hey Konstantinos, I'm a very much of a beginner, but this is really on my to brew list, something close to a bunderbeg gingerbeer would be ideal! I would think adding more ginger to the fermentation mix might be the way to go if it's not been too long.. But hopefully someone experienced can...

    First look at fermenting yeast..

Ah if that's what its meant to look like, great! My first time so really not sure what to expect.. Airlock wasn't bubbling at all, but since I stuck in the candy sugar it's been going strong, but looking at the picture, I guess it must have been active over the last 40 hours afterall.. Yippe :)

    First look at fermenting yeast..

Hi, I've popped the lid on my very first brew today to add in the candy sugar it wanted. It's in its second day. Not too sure what I make of the image I saw lol, does it look alright to everyone else? It's Mangrove Jack's Belgium Ale Yeast that was used. Thanks!

    Sparing hot water not ready!

Ha, it actually come out really good, on point to the recipe.. My next question is that I need to dissolve 25g candy sugar on day two of fermentation... Do I just drop it in without stirring or do I give it a good mix??

    Sparing hot water not ready!

Hi, Just in the middle of the brew, the initial Mash has finished and I didn't heat up the sparging water! So now I have a good 20min wait for 9L to heat up... Is this a game over scenario or is it more just a hassle but it won't impact anything? Thanks!
