    Hot Side Aeration

Nothing changed with the fermentation process routine, might have gone little longer on the primary side, but a little longer would have been 3-4 weeks instead of 2-3 weeks.

    Hot Side Aeration

Paint stirrer is just your normal Home Depot Polypropylene paint stirrer. We are pretty much stirring as fast as possible without over flowing the bucket.

    Hot Side Aeration

I've been brewing for almost 3 years now. I started brewing with some friends who have been brewing for little awhile as well. During our brew days, which usually take place outside in one of our garages/driveways, we usually brew about 6-7 batches totaling 50+ gallons of various beers. We...

Producing Yeast for 10 gallons with 1 smack pack???

I'm planning on brewing a 10 gallon batch on Friday. I'm hoping to save a couple bucks by only buying 1 smackpack and making a starter to produce enough yeast cells to ferment all 10 gallons. Should I just make 1 starter, or should double it up and make a starter for the starter as well. The...

Extended Mashing, Good, Bad, or RDWHAHB?

I've been All Grain Brewing for about 9 months now, I'm still learning. I want to brew two 5 gallon batches this weekend and only Saturday will be above freezing. It usually takes me about 5-6 hours from start to clean up for 2 batches, all outside. I'm unable to start too early due to other...

Northern Brewer - Hopquila - Tequila IPA

That's what I'm thinking as well. I was also suggested to crack them open and drop a carbonation pellet in, smaller dose since I added priming sugar. I'm kicking myself now for not doing a yeast starter. I didn't know how at the time, so I didn't. Since then I did a starter for a Black...

Northern Brewer - Hopquila - Tequila IPA

I'm still new to this and think that either my refractometer calibration is off, or my eyes are misreading, but I measured at 18.0 Original Brix (1.071 OG per seanterrill formula), and 7.0 Final Brix (1.087 FG per seanterrill formula). Recipe called for OG 1.074, no FG specified. I'm not...

    NB dead ringer kit question

Dead ringer was my first kit. I did primary for 2 weeks, secondary for 2 weeks, while dry hopping for the full 2 week secondary. I conditioned in bottles for 3 weeks and it was great. I plan on doing this kit again soon in a keg. I won't change anything. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Northern Brewer - Hopquila - Tequila IPA

I'm still a beginner brewer. I chose this kit because it sounded interesting, consisted of two of my favorites, DIPA and Tequila. Bottled on 1/11 after 3 weeks Pri, 2 weeks Sec. I sampled this weekend, 2 weeks after bottling. There was very little carbonation, but the taste was great. I'm...
