Mine is adjustable. I'm going to do a frozen to boil test on it to see if it really is shot. I'll post the results. I really love the combination heat stick/induction plate. It gets 7 gallons boiling in 45 minutes.

I just built a 1440w heat stick. On the initial test I submerged the element and rested it on my thermometers probe. The water temp started out at 100° After a minute of the element touching it, it read 60° It stays 40° cooler throughout the entire range. Any ideas why this happened?

Some people use reducers. I can't tell which one I like better, but after searching for 15 minutes I can't find the fitting in the picture above.

I just cleaned the inside of my brew pot with an s.o.s. pad, then boiled some water in it. Before I added water, I rinsed and dried it out so I don't see how any s.o.s. pad pieces could have still been in the pot. But alas... Rust spots could't be removed with intense scrubbing with...

It's funny how much more you notice bottles when you homebrew. I'm going to buy a few 6 packs of Red Stripe just for the bottles.

They are not the traditional coke bottle shape. They are more tubular with a short neck. I plan on buying a lot of them for my RIS.

Just a heads up, right now Coca Cola is selling 4 packs of 9.3 oz bottles. They have a green/blue tint to them with a retro logo in raised glass.

I agree 100% that it's noob nerves. A while back I lost a batch of wine to infection. I realize that's much easier to ruin than beer, but ever since then I sanatize everything twice and get spooked over the smallest things.
