What evidence do you have that it is an infection? Don't jump to conclusions...Just like bubbles are not a sign of fermentation...they are not a sign of infection...Are you using a Glass Carboy or Plastic? I would guess you are using plastic and it is from temperature change....Plastic...
Well when I did it it was in a glass carboy....lol...Still....no worries. The Double IPA turned out fantastic! I think next time I brew the same beer...i will push the bung into it just so I can get the same results!
I did the same thing on my first batch. I siphoned all the beer out and took the bung out...put all the beer back in...and walla...properly aerated beer! It turned out awesome!
I am currently drinking the Hefe this thread is about. I kinda amazed myself! It is without a doubt better than any Hefe I have had since I was in Germany. I think I might just brew this every brew day! My good friend owns a brew pub and told me...Jay....if you would have told me this beer...
I'm assuming that was meant to be a insult to Leine? I have friends who like BMC but also like to drink 3Floyds...does that mean 3Floyds and Leine are equals? :cross:
Regardless...If I had a chance to visit the brewery (ever been there?) I would. Especially if I was in close proximity to it...
@jcdouglas- Im curious as to why to stay away from Leine? I don't like alot of their "distributed" beers but when I visited their Leine Lodge they had quite a few unique beers on tap that were good and the food was great. I see you live in Wis so maybe you can give me some info I don't know...
Did you drive or fly? If you drove make sure you stop in Munster IN on your way back.. 3Floyds Brewpub is where its at...
I like Tommy Knocker Pick Axe...
If Leinenkuegle (sp) is near might be a good stop. They make a large amount of beer most are only available at their Leine Lodges...
Personally I would put 2 domestic, 2 micro's and 2 seasonal. I would try to use beers in your area. My favorite Brewery in NY is Southern Tier. They make some amazing beers.
I would probably go..
Domestic
1) Miller Lite/Bud Lite (i prefer miller)
2)Mich Ultra
Micro
3)Southern...
If you have cleaned it well and it is still colored then it is permanent and there is nothing you can do to fix it. You can use it just like you would a non-stained bucket (assuming it is cleaned properly and has no scratches/bacteria etc). It pretty much has been changed on a molecular level...
Congrats! You have good fermentation going on which is very good...Now you need to follow the above advice...get 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch tubing and connect it to the airlock and put the other end below the carboy into a jar of sanitizer....
like this thread...
lol...
Ok...So you moved your beer from the Primary Bucket to the Secondary Carboy? If this is the case you might not have been done fermenting and it started back up. I would say 95% chance you have nothing to worry about. Now if you have big slimy looking bubbles...then we have a slight...
