    sam adams octoberfest 2012

Every year I find myself liking it less and less. I think it's because every year I try more and more beers. I had a bottle last night because, being from Boston I feel like I need to, but it was pretty meh. The Winter Lager on tap is still one of my all time favs though.

    New Belium Trippel

+100 I pretty much despise everything from NB except for Fat Tire. I've not had the Ranger IPA though which I hear is ok. I take it back, the Summersault was drinkable, but that may or may not have been because the bartender that told me she liked it is super hot.

New Belgium Abbey Ale = Ginormous Headache

Ha! I bought a 6'er of the NB Abbey tonight for the first time! (along with a 4 pack of La Fin Du Monde thank the beer gods) I logged on planning on starting a thread about Belgians in general and I'm about to...but figured I have to post here also. There's just something about the New...

    SNPA clone a bit malty

It's been two weeks (3 total) and I'm happy to report that the beer is now delicious. The malty/wort flavor has subsided, the hops have come to life, and all is right in my beer universe. p.s. drinking a La Fin Du Monde right now and this stuff is amazing. Perhaps one notch below Duvel in my...

    Great beers you DON'T like?

For an easy drinking Shiner beer, I honestly like the Blonde and Light Blonde.

    SNPA clone a bit malty

Hello, So I just cracked my first bottle of my SNPA clone (Midwest I think?) and it tastes a bit malty. More to the point, a bit too much like wort. I assume it's because it's been only 7 days in the bottle but I just wanted to test it. I dunno if this is to be expected. a few pieces of...

    shipping yeast in 100+ heat

Hi folks, I just got my Bavarian Hefe kit from NB (omg can't wait for homemade Franziskaner) but the kit arrived on a day when it was over 100 degrees here in TX. The yeast was packed with a tiny ice pack but i'm sure that melted hours before i got home from work. Should i be concerned...

    Mid-Brew help

next question. I did a late LME addition at 15 minutes...but 15 minutes later i'm not back up to a rolling boil. Do I add boil time or consider it done? thanks again

    Mid-Brew help

Hello, I just read the directions on my Wyeast packet that said to let swell for 3 hours or more. My problem is that I read this with 60 minutes left on my boil. I assume that the 3 hour number is very conservative and I'll be fine but I'd like to get some reassurance from you fine folk...

    Midwest SNPA clone help

I was thinking that, about the balance...but I did only get the one extra ounce of hops that I was planning on using for dry hopping. Should i forget about the dry hopping and use it in the boil instead? Will a lb of DME cause too big a malt character? Or do I find a LHBS and buy more hops?

    Midwest SNPA clone help

Hello folks, First, I'll just say to any new brewers that my first batch, the Midwest Irish Red, tastes soooo much better after 6 weeks aging than 3 weeks. Try not to drink your whole batch after 14 days in the bottle :) Next up is the Midwest SNPA clone. I've got an extra pound of DME for...

I did it! Thank you HBT community

Hot damn! I cracked open my first bottle (pic to follow) and it was delicious. I made the Irish Red Extract Kit from Midwest. I assumed it would taste like Killians, but it's much better. I'd say if I put some cascade in that baby it would taste more like SNPA. It did have the distinct...
