Glycol Chiller Selection and Setup Query

Yes, the Asco valve is a very reliable valve. As Mike stated above, having the chiller pull double duty could be a stretch. But, you can chill near boiling wort fairly quick with your tap potable water and a circulation pump. After it is down in the lower ranges you can switch to glycol...

Glycol Chiller Selection and Setup Query

I'll weigh in with my personal and professional opinion. Stay away from cheap. Even not-so-cheap has left us with warm fermenting beer. Solenoids that would not open when they should, or stay open when they shouldn't. Do not downsize any of your tubing. You will simply be downsizing the...

    Motor for barley crusher

I've been using a very old, cheap 18v Ryobi drill. I can't walk away from it, but it only takes a few minutes to mill. Walking away from a mill in progress is cause for dismissal at many breweries. Mills can and do get hung up. Grain will occasionally have a pebble or two in it. I didn't...

This Saint Arnold's Commitment is delicious on this blustery day. 13.5 is just right.

Can someone explain the lack of head retention in alot of modern craft?

I agree with the previous statement about the experience and knowledge of the brewer. I apparently have a way of getting onto the brewing floor, many times with the head brewer, at nearly every brewery I visit. It truly amazes me at the lack of knowledge I occasionally encounter. Combine that...

Fellowship of the Home Brew XIII: Never Give up, Never Surrender!

I wish I was in. I don't have a single thing to offer. I have an all natural spontaneous sour that I may go forward with. Been sitting in fermentor for 5 years now. It's very...... interesting. And a ginger bread brown that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm just not in town enough to commit to...

So what's going on in this pic is the eureka Heights Fruity Hazy Haze Juice IPA. Stunning. And in the background somewhere I'm sure is Parish Dr. Juice. Another stunner. Oh and that stuff to the left there is the "Best" boudin on the planet.

    What are you drinking now?

Just finished a 3 month stay in CT. Headway was a definite go-to. Was able to snag a few Heady's while there. Wanted to pick up some Crusher from Alchemist, but they haven't had it for awhile. Of course they announced its release the day I flew out.

Dang it! I missed it. Finally got somewhere with excellent beer AND money in my pocket. Maybe I'll still be here next round.
