Hello all,
I'm piecing together my first keezer build and have a few questions.
I am using a 5cu ft Insignia chest freezer and will be building a collar. I currently have 1 5g ball lock keg and am looking to purchase another soon.
I already have a brand new 10lb CO2 tank and

According to Adventures in Homebrewing it is borosilicate. I cleaned it with Oxyclean Versatile Free and a standard bottle/carboy brush.
I used a pot to boil and a ice water bath to cool the pot before pouring in to the flask. Heat and cold were never in play.
Just weird...
Hey all,
This was ny 2nd time using a yeast starter kit from Adventures in Homebrewing and after cleaning my equipment I noticed spiral scratches/grooves in the bottom of the flask.
This is the best picture i could get of them.
Is this caused by the stir bar? They seem the be focused more...
Looking to get into kegging but no dedicated fridge for a 5gallon keg. Thinking 2 to 3 gallon kegs will work for my everyday fridge or mini. Located in PA 19018
Part of the Long Story Short was this was my first brew using a glass carboy instead of the bucket. Will definitely heed the advice to use larger tubing.
I ended up taking off cap, used some sanitized foil as a temp cap, rinsed outside of carboy with StarSan. Cleaned tubing with PBW to get...
Long story short, my carboy is overflowing right now. Carboy cap with 5/16 tubing into a bucket of star san. Tube clogged and blew the siphon cap off. Thankfully I had the wherewithal to sit the carboy in a water filled party tub and cover it with trash bags, just in case.
My question is this...
Hello folks,
I recently ordered a Spike Brewing 10g kettle and had a great experience with their customer service. There was a small oversight in the QC on my kettle which was not a big deal, I just wanted to inquire aboit it. They apologized and assured me the integrity of the kettle is not...
If it wasn't for work and our 3m old we would have. Looking forward to more competitions. Did submit same beer to Philly HBC Winter Warmers comp on March 3. Just for some more feedback.
So the results are in. We didn't place, we got a score of 28. This was our first entry in any type of homebrew competition. Will wait to receive the score sheet. Overall I'm just happy that other people liked the beer and thought it was good. It could have been way worse!
From what I understand the Spike kettles seem to be sturdier. I don't brew too often but want something that's gonna last. Their motto seems to put my mind at ease for that. Gotta do some calculations on cost and when I can pull the trigger. Maybe I'll keep checking the Bargain Cave unless they...
I've been wanting to upgrade to a 10g kettle for some time. I currently do 3g BIAB batches indoors on my stoce but want to start 5g All Grain batches outside.
I'm kinda torn between Spike and SsBrewtech. Leaning a little more towards Spike. For my budget this is a big investment. I've read so...
