I just throw the hops in the primary for dry hopping, no bag or anything. The beer usually sits 17-21 days in primary, then the 5-7 days for dry hopping. Sometimes I cold crash at the end, and others I don't. Being careful during siphoning to the keg helps keep the beer clear. After the beer...
I've used one packet of us-05 unhydrated for several beers between 1.045 and 1.065. All have turned out fine. I rehydrated a 1.050 beer once and noticed no difference so I just skip it now. If I do a lager with Saflager 34/70 I'll pitch 2 packets, but one packet of us-05 has served me well time...
when i first started I thought everything needed to go to secondary. Now, only beers that I'm going to age with oak, or lagers go to secondary. I dry hop my APAs in primary now.
either a bad poppet or spring in the quick connect. Are you pulling up on the ring (bottom portion) of quick connect when you are placing it on the post. I had a similar issue when I started and it's because I wasn't pulling up on the bottom portion to get it to lock onto the post.
i have 3 carboys, 3 buckets, 2 cases of 12 oz bottles, 25 22 oz bottles, bottle tree and all bottling equipment, wort chiller, 6 gal kettle, all cleaning and sanitizing items, and two kegs that fit in small closet. This closet also houses christmas decorations for the wife.
could you not just take #2 out of the fermentation chamber and D-rest somewhere else in the house so #1 doesn't have to go through it twice? I've done my D-rest outside of the chamber before in the winter when the house temps were cooler. It worked with no issues.
I've done two extract batches using Austin Homebrew's regular Wheat kit. Since it was my first go round, I just used 1 oz of Raspberry extract. Both turned out well, but I want to use actual fruit next time. I will put all the fruit in secondary when it happens.
I did several batches using Galaxy and got a great grapefruit taste. I'm now switched over to Simcoe/Cascade/and another citrus hop and have also gotten the grapefruit taste. I've done Simcoe/Cascade/Falconer's Flight, and Simcoe/Cascade/Ahtanum
i've done a raspberry wheat twice and used 1 oz in each batch. It was enough without overpowering the beer. May be able to bump it up some, but the first batch with 1 oz was good enough, so I stuck with that the second time.
I've used -04 a few times, all darker ales, and it's always worked well. -05 is my go to yeast though. My most frequent brews are APAs or Blondes and -05 has always treated me well for those.
