    What I did for beer today

    Came home from working all night, stopped by my IPA in the fermenter, lifted the lid, took a bit wiff of the 2oz of falconers flight and 2oz of simcoe that I dry hopped it with last week. I can't wait to go camping next week, it was made for the trip.

    About to brew my second batch of this ZD clone! This time I'll be doing FWH now that I understand how to do it with extract. Should be a fun experience. It was tasty last time but hoping for even better results this go round. What temps do you suggest for fermentation ?

    you could always use hot water and vinegar if you had concerns. Would take much longer though.

    Kinda like how people do hop teas to gain knowledge of what hops impart what flavor.

    Thanks Hector, I was just clarifying what I meant in my first response for the op's sake. I didn't pick up on possibility of "grndslm" not using steeping grains. Until I read your response. :)

    I have steeped the grains then brought the the wort to a boil, added hops to to this, then added ALL the malt extract to it at flameout. I was doing this a lot when I was trying to get rid of the twang of extract brewing. I subsequently went to dry malt extract adding a pound or two early and...

    Yes I have And it came out very good. I do it all the time. You're good. In my opinion.
