Besides the markers on the side of the fermenter, how do you determine exactly how much went in? I use beersmith and am trying to calibrate. Do you weight the fermenter?

So i put my gas post on the dip tube side today when kegging a double dry hopped ipa. Smelled awesome! So I snuck a sample a couple hours later and couldnt figure out why little to nothing was coming out. Then it hit me so i swapped the posts and then grabbed my sample. I seem to have lost alot...
I did this last year when I had the fermenter in my closet and it worked good. This time it seemed pointless because there were so many, but maybe if I do it from day one it will keep them from laying the eggs and multiplying like you say. I will give it a go. I feel its pointless it sealing the...
I just got a new fermentation chamber (fridge). I have a temp controller plugged in with the probe cable just in between the rubber on the door. After two weeks in primary at 62 degrees the fridge was full of fruit flies. The fridge is in an unconditioned garage (very hot right now). No flies in...

Thinking of putting a few chunks of Habenero into a glass then pouring in some pale ale. Thoughts? Will it be spicy? Im dry hopping two habeneros into a five gallon batch soon, just thought this would be interesting to try in the mean time.

I will try cold crashing now, thanks. speaking of burst carbonating, everytime ive tried this the beer goes up the co2 line and i end up with pressure creep until i completely disassemble and clean my regulator.

I started off just putting it on CO2, then a couple months ago switched to crashing first after watching a few kegging videos on youtube. Alot of the guys crashed. I am now questioning it. Just seems like a thing people are told to do with a quick explanation and it gets passed on as what you...
They say to crash a keg prior to putting it on CO2 because the CO2 goes into the beer easier at cooler temperatures. My question, why not just put it on CO2 when you put it in the keezer? Its going to get cold anyways and whatever CO2 gets in there while its warm the better? Seems like...
My thumb is on the screw that increases/decreases psi. My finger is on the screw that goes up and down and can lock me from turning the screw w my thumb clockwise increasing the pressure. I assumed this was called the set screw and only to make sure you dont accidentally increase pressure. Im...
