Can I use CO2 to transfer Guinness to a smaller keg?

I picked up a 13.2gal keg of Guinness tonight. That means I can only fit it in my kegerator. I would like to move some of it to a 5 gal corny. Can I use CO2 to do this without throwing off anything? I have beer gas for serving, but would rather not waste it for transferring it to a smaller keg...

    New to stouts...first beergas tank...what PSI/setup?

Update. I picked up a keg of Guinness tonight and hooked it up to my beer gas tank and stout faucet at 30PSI and 40 degrees. Poured perfectly. Must have been my home brew being over carbed causing all my issues. Thanks guys!

    New to stouts...first beergas tank...what PSI/setup?

O ring on threaded male portion, then plastic flow straightener in bottom of spout, then restrictor plate, then o-ring again then tightly screwed into faucet. I believe maybe my keg is overcarbed. I had it on C02 for a bit (2 weeks at 10psi) while I waited on my beer-gas mix. Could that be...

    New to stouts...first beergas tank...what PSI/setup?

I just purged the keg and turned the gas down to 10psi (which is about where i run my normal C02 tanks) and the pour seemed about perfect.....What is the danger in leaving it this low? Undercarbed ?

    New to stouts...first beergas tank...what PSI/setup?

Restrictor plate is definitely in there. I had it out to begin with because i was serving normal ale off the same faucet. I just added it back in. The beer comes out SO fast at 30PSI with 10ft of 3/16" hose. There is a little plastic "standoff" thing that is below the restrictor plate that...

    New to stouts...first beergas tank...what PSI/setup?

All- I did my first homebrew stout on Easter and just got a tank filled with beergas (75% NO2, 25% CO2) and hooked it all up. I have my kegerator at 40 degrees, 10ft of beerline (always been great with Co2 beers) and set my regulator to 30psi. I have a Krome stout tap on the other end. The...

How much blueberry extract for 1 gallon batch?

Hello, Been brewing a couple of years and have always done 5 gallon batches. Got a 1 gallon extract kit for Christmas and thought I would add some blueberry extract at bottle time. I bought the 1oz bottle of LorAnn extract which says it's super strong. My question is, how much do I start...

Help! Had to stop before boil!

Anyone else with advice? I really want someone to tell me it will be ok ;) I am thinking I can do the boil tonight and it has been in a sealed fermenting bucket since it was 160 degrees kept indoors at 70 degree ambient...whats the worse than can happen, right?!

Help! Had to stop before boil!

Hello, I had plans to do a specialty grain / extra brew today and got my specialty grains steeped and ready and then I had something unexpected come up and had to stop. I may not be able to brew until Wednesday! Am I hosed? I emptied my pre-wort into a 7 gallon food grade bucket which is...

Sierra Nevada PA after 10 weeks

4 weeks in primary, 1 week dry hopping, 3 days cold crash, and the rest of the time conditioning in the keg and naturally carbing. Didn't have room in the kegerator at the time it was probably ready :)

Sierra Nevada PA after 10 weeks

Been a long 10 weeks, but here is my Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone. The picture makes it look much darker than it is, but pretty delicious. Can't wait to try again!

Removing keg from cold - temporarily

I do this all the time....for much more than 4-5 days even. Just turn the gas off leaving it at whatever it was being served at and store it. When you are ready to serve it again, add it back to the same gas level and chill for 24 hours. Never noticed any differences in flavor from doing this.

    Question about kegs

Used are fine as long as they hold pressure. Typically all of the big sellers online will pressure-test them before shipping them.
