Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

www.samueladams.com/craft-beers/boston-lager# Jim's tasting notes give a bit of insight into the brewing process. I think the proprietary malts have something to do with that Sam Adams 'wang' some people taste. I also wonder if somebody filled his glass with a fine German Dunkel because he...

Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

It's probably the contract brewers they use that yield to the Sam Adams whang. God knows who is brewing this stuff.

Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

I know this is an old forum, but I would really like someone to explain that funky aftertaste in Sam Adams beers? I can taste it in every variety and it really turns me off to this brand. I can only describe it as a sour, musty funk. It honestly makes me queasy as hell if I drink more than...

New Belgium Ranger IPA from BYO

I bought the ingredients for this yesterday and look forward to brewing it this weekend. The guy at the local homebrewstore steered me away from the 2 pounds of cane sugar that the recipe called for. Did you add the sugar and if so did you notice any cidery side effects in the beer?

    first all grain beer

I brewed my first all grain batch last weekend. I was surprised at how well it went. I did a lot of checking and double checking of temperatures before I mashed and during. At the end of everything I made something that the yeast are currently enjoying, so I guess it worked. Good luck and...

    Mayhaw Saison

Calder, you are correct that should be 1 gram. I bought a bag that measures 2 grams and I used about half of it.

    Mayhaw Saison

Mayhaws are sour with a low sugar content. Could make a good wine, though. You should have some out in Texas. Maybe near Louisiana? They need really wet areas to grow. I dropped the orange peel from the recipe thinking the mayhaws would add enough citrus. I also added about one cup table...

    Mayhaw Saison

I'm giving this one a shot today. My first born is due at the end of the month and since mayhaws are typically harvested in May i figured this would be a good brew to celebrate with. For those not familiar with Mayhaws, they are similar to a cranberry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayhaw...

    Fantome Strange Ghost.

Fantome Printemps is one of my favorites (Probably second to Orval). I have tried some Fantome clones in the past and fallen short of the mark. How did yours turn out?

    Fantome Printemps

Has anyone ever tried to brew Fantome Printemps? A fabulous beer. If anyone has a recipe or ideas on ingredients I would appreciate it. I am pretty sure it has Brett in it or some other wild strain.

    Recipe suggestions for new brewer!

Coriander and dried orange peel give good citrus taste to a beer. Caramelize some sugar and add to the mix. Simcoe hops have strong grapefruit aroma. I hear "old fashions" are more popular than cheese in Wisconsin.
