Please help, I need to think of a gift!

Ummmm... You're asking the wrong crowd. Ask one (or more) of her girlfriends for suggestions.

    2 14g fermenters for $100

Sounds like the craigslist seller probably payed top dollar (from the LHBS?) for these originally. Here they are brand new: $40 ea. + shipping http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=35050&catid=574 (edit: Curtis beat me to it)

Home Brewer V.S. Snobby food Critic.....we won

I didn't miss it. I just interpreted it as your personal opinion. Evidently I "dice it" differently than you do.

Home Brewer V.S. Snobby food Critic.....we won

Perhaps you missed the fact that the guy was a free-loader; he wasn't paying for his meal. Hmmm... non-paying, make-believe "food critic" fails to return to cadge another free meal? Sounds like a win for the restaurant.

Do you ever get tired of drinking certian styles?

I do. After about 4 pints of an IIPA or a barleywine I tend to get really tired and I can't drink any more of them. :drunk: But then, in a couple of days, I can drink them again! :mug: Go figure. What was the question again?

So, I can't measure grain apparently... *somewhat humorous story*

Ummm... The proportions should still be the same, as long as you weighed out the same amounts each time (2kg of vienna; 1/2 kg crystal). Just mix it all up and measure out 2.5 pounds. You will have 2 lb of vienna and 1/2 lb of crystal. -Steve

What beer did you want to really like but just didn't?

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout I could have mixed Ten High and Guinness half and half and saved some money.

    Old White Labs Yeast

Last year I found a 15 year old Wyeast smack pack in the fridge (1994 date code). I had just started brewing again after, coincidentally enough, a 15 year layoff in which I: got married, :) :( bought a house, :) raisied two kids, got divorced, :( :) yada, yada, yada. As I...

Ever wanted to watch a fellow homebrewer stung by a bee?

The elderly gentleman who taught me a lot about beekeeping once dropped his drawers to let a wayward bee escape unharmed from the confines of his trousers. His hives were in the front yard of his house on main street. I bet that had the neighbors talking! Sounds like some things have...

    Paint strainer removal

I have a mesh bucket straining bag with an elastic top that I keep in my bucket of Star-San. If the brew kettle is going to be uncovered for any length of time (e.g. between flame-out and racking), I simply wring out the excess sanitizer and stretch it over the top of the kettle. I suppose a...
