38-40 lbs here. my false bottom sits right at the curve of the bottom of the keg. so its 15 inches in diameter. i did 11 gallons of an imperial stout and got an og of 1.097. would have been higher if it were just a ten gallon batch.
so did we find a solution to the seller only listing 220v controllers as opposed to use usa users that need 110v? id like to get going on making one of these but if its only 220v then i cant use it.
i was always under the impression that the ball in the guiness bottles was charged with nitrogen. and when you pop the top off the bottle, it triggers the nitrogen to be released into the beer.
just a heads up; i made one and used a fine mesh baggie that i got from midwestsupplies.com as the strainer and it killed an ipa of mine. came out like a pale ale. oh well. ive stopped using it. its mostly just a novelty anyways. all that hop trub either gets stuck at the bottom of your kettle...
gear like kettles, fittings, etc? keg donations from friends and a trip to marshalls industrial supply will take care of everything you need for the fittings.
