Ok...so apparently my cats are alcoholics:drunk:...no, they don't go to meetings but they are doing everything in their power to drink the Wort. :tank: Anyone else have this problem? And to think, someone left this poor alcoholic at a shelter where they wouldn't even think to give her beer

    First Brew Bottles

*shrug* I figure I'll stick with the non-twistoffs. Can't go wrong that way. I work with a bunch of alcoholics so it won't be a problem getting bottles in the future.

    First Brew Bottles

I had to toss maybe a glass worth of poor little innocent beer. :( If I'd known the twisties might work I would have tried them. I thought I read something that said never use them though, otherwise I might have.

    First Brew Bottles

I thought using the twist-offs was bad and didn't seal or whatnot. Otherwise I had another 15 bottles I just tossed in my recycling bin.

    First Brew Bottles

Well, I somehow waited a full 3 weeks since brewing and I got everything bottled up. Now I just have to wait another 3 weeks :( I ended up having not quite enough beer bottles...for some reason I was buying twist-offs and didn't even realize it until last night. I was able to fill 44...

    My yeasties have built chimneys?

So, if you notice your Yeast building monuments and statues in your honor...would you still rack it and bottle? Or would you wait until they develop outer-Carboy technology.

    MLT Size

I plan on doing a 5 gallon recipe so it sounds likes I made a good choice. I grabbed it at sears before I thought since I had a gift card and it was only $12.

    MLT Size

I'm going to be doing my first AG batch the beginning of next month. I'm currently making a MLT and was wondering, just how big does it need to be? I currently have a 7.5 gal rectangular cooler and I'm worried it's not going to have a deep enough grain bed. Thanks

    best/cheapest online store

I look at morebeer.com and northerbrewer.com Those seem to be the cheaper ones that's I've seen. At least at my level

    Cheap Kegs/Bottles in CT

Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I figured since it's for bottling and kegging it wouldn't hurt. Just saw cheap kegs/bottles a guy is selling on craigslist. If it wasn't nearly 2 hours from me I'd go and start kegging...Here's the link if anyone's interested. Cornelius...

    small set-up advice

Couldn't you just fill the steam jacket with water or cooking oil and use that as a medium to transfer the heat to the main pot? Then you can drain it and even pump cold water through it to cool the wort. I've used those pots before, just never looked into alternate heating methods.

    hola from Connecticut

I just started my first brew last week. I've wanted to brew for years but never really looked into it. Found out from a guy in my shop about a LHBS and decided to finally start. Hasn't even been a full week and I'm already planning Brew #2 :mug:

    First Brew

But if I step away from the beer I can't yell "Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles" every time it burps.:( Actually my only problem right now is keeping the cats away from it. They want to jump up and down on the lid. I'm probably going to move it upstairs where they can't get to it later today since the...
