    Big Brother!

I've been PMed by a mod asking me not to post political threads because they have the potential to "ruffle feathers."

    Big Brother!

See mod, no one was even offended. I clearly made an effort to keep things civil.

    Big Brother!

Burnsie, Please refrain from posting political threads. We don't condone that here. I know your subject was put into the right area, but it had potential to ruffle some feathers. Thanks, Mod team Ok, I've read your statement - and I understand that you think that political threads...

    Big Brother!

Todd, Did I offend you? I thought we were just having a conversation. I didn't think my response qualified as "flaming". Don't let your blood pressure get up there - its all in good fun and company. I even said "I see your point, although...", and I do see your point. Just talking man.

    Big Brother!

I see your point but on the shopping cards although... It starts by us, the citizens, voluntarily giving up power to our government in the name of security, or cost savings, etc. The point is, our info is out there, the wheels are in motion. Look at the "slippery slope" possibilies...

Listermann's kits/ when to add honey

I've moved on to doing recipies from extract - but I'm giving kits one last try. My first three brews were kits. One was pretty good (an IPA, Brewers Best), one was not too good (a wheat, Brewers Best), one was downright awful (a porter, Listermann). I have since made several brews from...

    Grolsch bottles

Amen to BillyBrew's suggestion - The Fischer Amber bottles are the way to go (the Fischer Pale are green, Amber are brown). I get them for about $3 too, and the beer isn't bad. They look better than the Grolsch, and they're a little bigger (1 liter, I think). If they weren't French, they'd be...

    Rasberry - Apple Cider

I have some rasberry-apple juice and I'm thinking about using it for making hard cider. Anyone done this? Will it taste good? I've made apple cider in the past with good results.

    Brew Pub / Brewery Employment

Does anyone know how to get started in the brewing industry? I looked for work in my area as a brewer's assistant, with no success. I want to learn about brewing and the industry.

Whoops! Lid not completely sealed on IPA after racking.

I racked my IPA to a secondary (6.5 gallon Ale Pail). That was two days ago. Today I went to the storage room and looked at the bucket, and I noticed that there was a portion of the lid that was not sealed down. I pulled the lid off, smelled the brew, tasted it with a sanitary shot glass...

(Bottling) Change air space for bottle size.

How should I adjust the amount of air space I leave in my bottles from my normal 1-1.5 inches (12 oz), to 24 oz bottles, and champagne (750 ml) bottles? Thanks in advance for informed advice. -Burns:mug:

    Primary Fermentation in "Ale Pail"

First, why is air mixing a problem? ...darn. Second, why can't you just run some hose from the spigot (with the primary in an elevated position), to the secondary...same effect as a siphon, no?
