    Yeast stopped at 1.035 (wy2206)

A lager takes much longer and since it is so much slower, it may be harder to see any activity even if it is occurring. How long did you leave it in the fermenter? What temperature was it kept at? What did you expect it to finish at, are there a large amount of unfermentable sugars in there?

    How to Count Large Batches

Searched a bit and didn't find any discussion directly related to my question. So I just brewed my first 10 gallon batch. Up until now, they'd all been 5 gallon batches. Brewed a fairly simple porter, then split it into two 6 gallon carboys. The one I left as is and the other I added a pot...

    Naming homebrews?

name them all and label them all. its more fun to introduce them to friends that way. i dont glue the labels anymore though. just a rubberband around the bottle (or growler if its from the keg).

    Need a long auto-sihpon

Don't have a specific link for you, but I have a friend who has an old sailboat and has a siphon to suck out the water that gets inside. I remember thinking how it was pretty much just a bigger version of the one I have for brewing. I remember when he bought it there were several different...

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

Mine was over a year ago so not sure if it should be added, but when I first started brewing my dumb self would put them in the carboys. I broke one trying to get it out with a needle nose pliers.

    Fruit Flies

Yeah, this is all pretty much what I'd figured. If the 1 gallon that I had to rack off and bottle after was bad, I wouldn't be too sad. I mainly just don't want the other 4ish gallons to be bad as well. So I hope the bad stuff took place in that 1 gal jug.

    Fruit Flies

So I bottled a 5 gal batch of my amber last weekend. Problem was I didn't realize until I was almost done that I didn't have quite enough caps. So I quickly sanitized a 1 gal jug and filled it from my bottling bucket and put an airlock on. Now, a week later, I bottled that last gallon...

    Brewer in NC

Thanks. I read a fair amount before I started this one. I opted for cubes instead of chips because it seemed those were less likely to overdo it. Just using a few ounces as well. I soaked them for a week in bourbon and now they are in the secondary and will be for a week before I bottle...
