    My Automated E-Herms Build (LabJack)

When you do post pictures, be prepared for the code nazis to be all over you. Don't take it personally. Some of them will have sound advice coming from a well-intentioned place. Others are just trying to make themselves feel better by berating your sloppy job thereby lifting themselves up...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

It is now official. Between Apfelwein and JAOM, my beer is going to be getting jealous. You just can't beat these two recipes for the minimalistic approach to equipment and process, and the near bulletproof nature ot the recipes. Great for first timers and the results are good enough to keep...

    Portable Kegerator - First Look

What?!? Preposterous! No group of people can possibly consume 10 gallons of beer at a party! Fill it and send it North and I will prepare an in-depth case study. Looks great! :mug:

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Well, I took the (tiny) plunge and made two 1.5 gallon batches, one with brown sugar and cinnamon and one per EdWort's original recipe. I used brown 6 liter Tap-A-Draft bottles so I won't be able to see it clears. Any comments about that? I'm thinking just ride out the 4-5 weeks, kill the...

    General Arduino Discussion

Where would one start to learn programming for an Arduino say, if one was.... completely unfamiliar with anything other than simple database work. And I wrote basic programs on an Apple IIe in 7th grade....lol. Is there a "For Dummies" book or site?

no bitterness after boiling in a hop bag

I typically use the stainless steel tea balls for my pellets. It takes a few of them if I am doing multiple hop additions but it also makes things go smoothly as I just toss in the next in line at the prescribed time.

    A Brewday of Minor Disasters

Ah, so just the LEAD shot that was in it.... Hopefully it wasn't lead. I always seem to get some type of animal hair in mine no matter what I do to prevent it.

    Northern Brewer Winter Spice Ale

I have to say, I'm not impressed with progress at this point. Hopefully this is one that continued aging will improve. Pericles, I guess was have been reminded why we should brew Winter or holidays beers a couple months ahead of time.

    Northern Brewer Winter Spice Ale

Pericles... I will set one aside if you want to do a swap in January. I haven't touched mine yet and it is trying my patience. I think towards the end of next week I will crack one to check progress.

First Bottling and Partial Mash Brew day(Observations and Questions)

I respectfully disagree with this. I keg and, with the holidays being here, I still bottle as much as I keg on a volume basis. The tree with the vinator is worth the minimal investment IMO. It is hard to take kegs to parties (for msot people) and I surely don't want to give a whole keg of...

New label please let me know what you think

The second one is much better, on screen at least. It gives the whole handmade vibe and that is tres' cool.

    Northern Brewer Winter Spice Ale

My batch from this NB kit will be at three weeks in the bottle on December 21st (the first day of winter). I am going to try to wait until then to check it but I gave it a nice long secondary so I think it will be blended well.

    Who's ordered from Hops Direct??

Received my first 4lb shipment today. I can confidently say that I will buy from them again. My closest LHBS is a health food store and at $2.50-$4.00 per oz for undated vac-paks, I think I'm taking the right route.
