Preparing for the TASTING part of Cicerone Exam. HELP!

I am going to be taking the Certified Cicerone exam in May and I am not very worried about the written part of the test. I am, however, worried about the tasting part... specifically the off-flavors part. From what I have read they give you a basic bud, coors, miller, etc style beer and spike 3...

Force Carbing ginger ale with a soda siphon THEN bottling...

Update: Bottled one as a test last night. Ginger Ale was roughly room temperature and beyond shaking the canister I didn't allow much time for the Co2 to absorb. As expected the bottle was so lightly carbonated this morning it was hardly noticeable. I just applied Co2 to very cold ginger ale...

Force Carbing ginger ale with a soda siphon THEN bottling...

I purchased an isi soda siphon. Instructions say it is only for carbonating water but I am experimenting with making ginger ales and root beers. According to the instructions the small Co2 canister you attach shoots all it's contents into the canister at once. Then you are supposed to shake the...

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

I wish I could trust the coating on the inside. I was thinking it would be fun to fill one of these while I am bottling and let it carbonate and bring it to a party.

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

Thanks bottlebomber. So far looks like grain containers. Still thinking of more ideas.

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

I was thinking that worst case scenario I could use them for grain. I have 5 of them and could get more every couple weeks. If you pay shipping I will think about it :mug:

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

I assumed if the magnet did stick to it (which it did) it wasn't aluminum. What should I look for when I nick one? Are there any coatings that would be safe to use? Is their a cleaning or sanitizing solution that I can put inside to see if would hold up? Sorry for all the noob questions and...

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

I know its not aluminum (tested with a magnet). As for the size, all it says is 6.61lbs of beans. I would guess perhaps 2 gallons or slightly under. I am working on putting together a BIAB set-up where I want to do lots of smaller batches (2-3 gallons) and I was thinking these might make for...

    Steel coffee "kegs"... any ideas?

I work at a kitchen supply place and we do a lot of coffee demos and samples. We get out beans in these steel containers and when we use the beans up we toss them. Could these possibly be used for homebrewing? Ghetto conical fermenters?

    Greetings from Fresno CA

Greetings all. 27 year old from Central California. Been into craft beer for a while and have explored getting into the industry on the marketing side of things. Started homebrewing and now I have an even greater appreciation for the craft. Hoping to get lots of practice over the next few...

UC Davis Brewing program need advice.

First time poster... long time lurker. New hombrewer and college grad dealing with the same thoughts (is more expensive education worth it?). This thread caught my eye. I won't pretend to know what the right answer is but I will say what I have decided to do... I have some money for a...
