    Urgent Help Needed - Siphoning

If I try to remember back to Physics class, the flow will stop when the water levels in each container are the same. So if your kettle level rises to the level of the mash tun before it is empty then the flow would stop.

    Squirrel Eating my Hops Plant!

Yesterday I noticed quite a few wilted leaves and broken vines on my Mt. Hood plants. Today I found a FAT squirrel just munching away on my hops. Has anyone ever heard of this or do I just have a mental squirrel?

    on oxygenating wort

I just purchased the Williams setup and got the small disposable oxygen tank from Lowes that it is setup to use (usually used for oxygen torch). After reading the label on the oxygen tank I am a little hesitant. It states that the contents of package and combustion products are found to be...

    Check your local asian market

For a 10gal batch you need some where around 12gal for the boil. A 13gal pot would be pretty tight. I use a 15.5gal and need Fermacap in order to prevent boil overs. I got my 62qt SS Bayou pot on Amazon for $110 shipped.

Recipe says use 2 1/2 gallons of water but I have a 10 gallon pot

You may also need to adjust your hop additions. The recipe is likely set for the partial boil and hop utilization will be different for the full boil (slightly better with larger volume so may not need as much hops to get target IBU).

YEAST: The Practical Guide to Beer Fermentation

Got mine last night as well and definitely will be very useful. I actually ordered a 2nd one from the Brewing Network - they are selling signed copies if anyone is interested in that.

    Did I just score?

Just received the 2 that I ordered for $15ea ($47 for both including shipping). Exactly standard Rubbermaid cooler but with a Gatorade logo. I was surprised that it actually came with the cup holder and a collapsable stirring spoon that could be used as a mash paddle in a pinch. Super...

    Did I just score?

Thanks! I was looking to order 1 to replace mine that cracked. Just picked up 2 for $47 which is less than I almost paid for 1. Hope it is same as standard Rubbermaid. Will post when they arrive.

    Help With Kettles(Instaware)...

I don't have any experience with the aluminum stock pots but I did order a 40qt stainless pot from Instawares. Heavy duty (and I do mean 'heavy') but expensive. I wish I had gone with a large pot for future expansion. Recently I bought a 62qt stainless pot which is much lighter and actually...

Wyeast smack pack: Bloated on arrival

I recently had the same bloated Denny's Fav 50 from Brewmasters as well. Maybe not a coincidence? I wasn't too worried about it and was planning on making a starter just to be safe but I hope the bloating is from a premature 'smack' during shipping and not something else...

Could my yeast be causing a medicinal taste?

I have been struggling with the same 'band-aid' aroma and taste on 3 consecutive batches. Like you all used harvested and washed yeast. Since then I have 4 batches in a row that I have used fresh liquid yeast and all have been excellent - actually smell like beer!! I opened a couple of my...

Love TSS2 help needed for fermchamber install

Are you using the probe that came with the controller? I think it is calibrated to use a 1000ohm thermistor and if you use anything else you need to adjust the calibration. Also it looks like you have the 2 probe inputs jumpered - not sure if this effects anything but I would pull that out and...
