Aluminum transfers heat faster. I am not sure where thickness plays in though I could find out as I have all the materials and equipment required to do a proper test but it would be complicated. Total mass makes a difference because things get hot faster when heat runs out of places to go. A...
Aluminum transfers heat much quicker than steel of any type. I weld steel and aluminum all day and I can tell you there is a huge difference. Perhaps 30-50%. at the same thickness and at the temps we are dealing with.
Thanks, that is great explanation. My current plan is to leave the brew in the 6.5 glass primary for three weeks (expiring tomorrow) and transfer to 5 gal glass secondary this weekend and pull a sample at that point. It's a 6% dry Irish ale and hasn't bubbled for 10 days at a constant 67. I use...
I have a whole four batches under my belt and two have involved either cocoa nibs or bourbon soaked oak chips. I thought the Peanut butter cup recipe sounded tasty. May be an "almond joy" with the baked coconut and almond oil might be good.
I have fallen back now to try to make a good clean...
So can you pull a pint or so from the fermentation bucket after the yeast is added and ferment that is a bottle/jar and use that to test rather than opening the bucket/carboy to pull a sample?
I need some help. i have only four batches under my Belt and seven grandkids. I am on my second wife and have one batch in secondary, two in bottles and one being bottled tomorrow. No forclosures or bankruptcy but it's not going be over 10 degrees tomorrow with 45 days of winter left. I want to...
I live in VT and have been using the cold weather (when available) to keep my ice cubes (for wort chill from boil) and water bottles (for water bath swamp cooler) frozen. Snow is useless to get stuff cold fast. May be Canadian cold is better.. :mug:
Quick update and another couple of questions.
The beer tastes decent but very little carbonation. I left it at 70 after bottling for a couple of weeks then moved it too my shop where I have a little more space but it's closer to 45F. Do I need to store it a little warmer?
Thanks, I just...
The beer hadnt moved for a while so I decided to bottle this afternoon. I am happy to report that it smells and tastes pretty darn good. The banana smell is completely gone and it didn't really have any overwhelming odd smells. I drank a little and it tasted pretty good. The only thing I noticed...
