Autumn Seasonal Beer Maple Pumpkin Ale

Sorry to chime in here a couple of years late, but I find it curious that a community of people that is so dedicated to purism in preparation and brewing from scratch would settle for canned pumpkin and blended 'pumpkin pie spice'. Make your own pumpkin pie spice and roast your own pumpkin...

    Priming Sugar ratio

The beer was in the primary for two weeks and spent another 3 in the secondary. I'm pretty sure it was a priming sugar misjudgment. I'm more concerned with how to remedy it....

    Priming Sugar ratio

I'm dealing with bottle bombs because I was off in my calculations of priming sugar. I brew 5 gallon batches, keg half of it in a 2.5G Corny and bottle condition the rest. I took the normal 5oz of priming sugar, put half in the bottles and 2/3 of what remained in my keg. What am I doing...

    Preventing Bottle Bombs

I'm dealing with the same thing right now. A lot of adrenaline was flowing as I defused the waiting bombs, as I had heard two loud pops in the night, only to smell beer seeping out of my coat closet... Luckily I had covered the batch with a trash bag, though even the trash bag was shredded in...

    Recipe for Sour Red

I had this killer Sour Red Ale in Portsmouth NH a couple of months back and I can't get it out of my mind. I'd never tasted anything like it -- does anyone know of any recipes for sour beer?

    temperature of wort

You should be able to find pond pumps at any landscaping store, Home Depot, or garden center. You'd probably be fine with the cheapest as there is little water to pump and almost no grade.

Keg beer backing up into CO2 Line

Alright! I'm back in business and the hefe is flowing fine! Ultimately, I think the problem was that I had overfilled the keg. I don't have a check valve, though one is on my 'to-get' list. Thanks for all the help.

Keg beer backing up into CO2 Line

Thanks - I had filled the keg up pretty high. I've cleaned the line and let out some beer, hopefully that should do the trick.

Keg beer backing up into CO2 Line

I'm getting a bit of beer shooting up into my CO2 line from the keg. It's not a lot, but I am concerned that it might compromise the sanitation of the system. Any thoughts? Thanks
