Spent Grain? Make Your Best Friend Cookies!

I have been making these dog treats for a while and the dogs love them. My husband and I are brewing today and I want to make more but don't have any peanut butter in the house. So I am thinking of making a different flavor. Has anyone ever used bacon grease to flavor? If so, how much would I add?

    Fermentation temperature too high

Just call it a Saison! Fermentations temps in the 90's for Saisons, equals tasty beer!!:rockin:

Short Dry hop - need your input

So one of my last brews is a simple grain bill, pale ale. I wanted a beer I could go grain from glass in about two weeks, force carbing of course. Would I get any benefit of a really short dry hop, like 3 or 4 days?? Mainly, because I have read that hopping while fermentation is present can...

First AG brew has no carbonation!

No bottle carbonation?? After this happened to me once, these are the only words of wisdom I can tell you - Two words : Force Carb. I love having beers carbed up very nicely in less than a weeks time, with the method I adopted from many posts on here. Good Fortune, with the bottles.

    Another First AG Post

I have my new system implemented and I only get about 66% as well. But I am very happy with the beer that I can produce. Try not to get too hung up on efficiency right now. I've only got about 15 AG batches under my belt, but the last four beers I brewed I have really loved. Keep it up if...

Any chance hops can be infected?

So a few months ago I ordered a pound of three different hops. Chinook, Galena, and Target. It seems that both batches I have made with the Target have either been infected or tasted really sour, to me. The first batch I threw out, couldn't drink it. Second batch, was really noticeable...

Consistently missing OG / Need Advice

I'm pretty sure I ended up with a little over 5 gallons, so I must not have boiled it long enough, still 10 points would have given me a lot longer boil, and less final volume. Yes was a little trub in the bottom of the kettle, around a quart. Yes I adjusted for the wort temperature, in the...

Consistently missing OG / Need Advice

You guys are probably right. I'll try and tweak a few things, but in the end I'll just have to throw a couple more pounds of base malt in there. And yes Dragon, I'm perfectly happy with my beer!!! This is just one of those things I obsess over, you know how it goes! Thanks for the help!

Consistently missing OG / Need Advice

That's what I'm trying to figure out, why my efficiency is so low. Should I be hitting those numbers with this amount of grain??

Consistently missing OG / Need Advice

So the last few brews I have been doing, according to BeerSmith, I have been missing my OG by around 10 points every time. Ten points on the low end. I realized the first few times, maybe I didn't use enough sparge water, but this last time, I used quite a bit, and boiled for over two hours...

Brewing Now! Have a question! AG Boil

Hey all! I am brewing today just ground my grains and am getting my strike water ready. I have to leave from 10-12pm, was wondering if I can go ahead and mash and sparge, leaving the wort in the kettle for a couple hours before brewing?!!.... Anyone see any problem in this...

Using Corn Sugar after primary ferm. ???

Hey all, Anyone ever used corn sugar after primary fermentation to increase ABV?? Long story short, I mashed too high, around 160. I assume that didn't create enough fermentables, because after four weeks my final gravity only indicates 4.3% ABV. That with nearly 16 lbs of grain...

Flavor Profile Help/ Tastes like delirium tremens

I brewed a batch a couple weeks ago and just sampled it today. It has a taste which I am really not fond of. Although I love beer this flavor is not loved by me. The only way to describe it is like Delirium Tremens. I also Had a Piraat a couple weeks ago that had the same flavor. Sorry...
