I've never seen both corn sugar (for thinning body) and maltodextrine (to add body) in the same recipe. Not that it doesn't work or whatever, but it seems counterproductive. Also, I remember Pliny being really dry (and not needing the m.d.)...but God knows my memory blows.

Amen. It just baffles me all the points that have been said. 1. No O2 in a keg. 2. Co2 is used to push beer (I would hope they aren't using compressed air...). So, I don't get why it might oxidize. But if it can sitting around since they don't pour much beer, that would make sense...

I'm with you on the cruddy lines. We've all been there before. But are lines, say crappy vinyl tubing or something, be air permeable like this guy thinks? To me, infected beer and oxidized beer taste very different. Wet cardboard was all I tasted in some of the samples.

That Hop-tequila is NOTHING like bourbon and hops. It's interesting, sure, but more like tequila and less like what you'd expect.

I use a thermopen. Possibly not what you are looking for but it's the best you can get for a handheld instant read.

I've never been to 7 Monks, but Right Brain Brewery is just a brewery. They've got a lot of beer on tap, but it's not the beer bar that the op is asking for. If it was, Founders, Dark Horse, etc. would be top of the list. Traverse City kicks ass, though-especially Jolly Pumpkin.

Slows BBQ in MI has 60 craft beer taps. Avoid the food and the lines, go for the beer.

Black Lotus is terrible. Witches Hat is a cool place but there beer was a mess. I like the West Coast atmosphere of Atwater but the beer is average. If you want a road trip, go to Darkhorse, Founders (and more) in Grand Rapids, and under the radar BARTS.
