It had started to fermented for about 3 days before I started ramping, plus I have a thermowell running into the center of the carboy and a Ranco controlled reptile heater wrapped around it. With that said, it's still possibe that I started ramping a bit too early.

For those using the Bru'n water spreadsheet, do you find the generic water profiles to work well for the color and balance indicated? I mean how well does the pale ale profile work? Or the malty brown, for example? I think the spreadsheet looks promising, but I'm so afraid of overdoing my salt...
I've dry hopped with as little as 1/2 oz in a pale ale. I think it was noticeable, but it got gigged in competition for not having enough aroma. It still placed 2nd in the APA category.
