What do you guys think of this keezer concept for my 8.8 cu foot Kenmore chest freezer? Paneling is 1/4" lined with 2" of foam. The rest will be 3/4" dimensional lumber. I know it might be little heavy on the hinges but I'm torn between coffin vs. collar.

Beside the extra weight, you will also need to have the ability to pull it away from the wall quite a bit in order to have enough clearance to lift the lid up fully.
 
Not sure what you are asking here. I do like it...way more room than a coffin. Maybe install a lift assist on each side like the tailgate of an SUV or similar...can't recall the names of those little shock things.
