Default "Imperializing" a pumpkin ale

Hey Guys! For my next ale I'm going to brew a Pumpkin Ale.

I got the basic LME kit from AHS which includes:

http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_452_42_173&products_id= 10886

7 lb Liquid Malt Extract Caramunich and Crystal 60. It also had .5 lbs base grains and 1.5lb specialty grains.

The featured hops are kent golding.

I would like it if the Ale had a little more body and character and a little more alcohol content.

With all the awesome knowldge in this forum, do any of you guys know how could I modify this recipe to make it more "imperial" ?

Thanks!

I don't know scale everything up 50 % and leave the batch size the same? You'll need to make a starter when making a big beer. I have to say though just cause your beer is bigger, doesn't mean it's better. I would trust ahs, their kits are impeccable.

Generally, increase only the base malt. Of course, you'll also want to adjust bittering hops accordingly to balance it.
