I already pitched the the yeast and fermentation has started. Is it possible to boil more extract and add it to the primary?

What was your expected OG? I'll bet you just collected a sample (say, from the top-off water) that wasn't completely mixed with the extract. It's pretty hard to miss your gravity by much with extract.

This happened to me, and here was the solution:

If doing extract, are you topping off with water at the end? If so, make sure you stir well before taking a OG sample.

The problem could be as simple as the wort not being mixed well, and therefore your hydro reading was off.

Yea if you are doing an extract kit you pretty much can't miss the FG as it's all coming from the extract. Now U could add to much water at the end and dilute it but that's unlikely if you measure correctly.
