Just wanted to share.
I made a saison with my father in law, and the kit we got used a smack pack. I smacked the pack, let it do its thing, but when we got to pouring the yeast in we found out that the nutrient pack was still intact. One of the three firemen helping me brew pulled out his pocket knife and opened her up. We hoped for the best, stuck it in the closet for 3 weeks, and came back on bottling day.
OG: 1.064
FG: 1.006
Holy moley. And suprisingly enough, it doesn't taste terribly dry. Dry, yes, but not terribly so. Doesn't taste like it is 7.5% ABV, and is dangerously drinkable (and that was just on bottling day).
Needless to say, that yeast cake is now restarting a stuck fermentation I had, as I beleive it has some form of divine power.
