I'll be brewing up a recipe where I would like include toasted oats and barley. I am wondering if I should do this just prior to adding all my grains to my mash tun or is there a benefit to letting the oats and/or barley rest. If so how long would I want it to rest? I'd also be interested in any suggestions on temperature and time as well as if I can do both at the same time or if I would want to use different times and/or temps.

I only toasted some grain recently so I am by no means an expert. It was for the Samhain pumpkin ale. In the recipe and thread the "toasting" is discussed. I toasted mine per the directions there and let the grains rest about 10 days in a brown paper bag.

It is still brewing but all the samples have tasted fine so I guess I did it right...lol.
