I was in the local brew store today and the guy was talking about using turbo yeast. He said that the has not used it and it will be his first time. Has anyone ever used this yeast before or have any information on it? Thanks..b

I've never even heard of it. Do you happen to know who manufactures it or what strain it is?

it is used in home distilling and will take a strong sugar wash and turn it into rot gut pre-distilled wash. Not a good brewing yeast.

Add about 18 lbs of sugar to 6 gallons of water and turbo yeast in a large pail with only a plastic sheet over it and wait 48 hours. Ferments so vigorously that the pail will heat up about 20F over room temperature. Result is 20% alcohol with an awful nutty taste.
