So...can anyone tell me what kind of impact home brewing has on a septic tank? Thanks in advance!

are you brewing in the tank?

Hahaha that's what I thought when I read the title!

Seriously though, even if you are dumping your trub down the toilet, I don't think it would have any negative effects.

Everyone,

Thanks for the detailed information! That's what I enjoy so much about the homebrewtalk.com community. I can search google and waste hours trying to sift through the over abundance of information or I can ask someone on homebrewtalk.com and get a detailed, informative and knowledgeable answer. Thanks so much.

We pour all our brewing waste out on the ground beside the shop where we brew so I can't tell ya. Then again my grey water doesn't dump into my septic tank anyways.

Been dumping mine for 11 years now.
When we refinanced a few years ago they required that it had to be pumped out. We dug out the cover, removed the cap, the guy shone the flashlight and you could see the bottom of the grey water side. He said was the cleanest system he had seen no need to pump:D
