I'm doing my first dry hopped beer. I threw in the pellets yesterday and this morning, the hops appear like a cake of moss floating at the top of the carboy.

My concern is that, with the hops remaining at the surface, the hop flavoring will not fully infuse into the entire batch and will only affect that beer near the surface of the carboy.

Do the hops eventually sink? If not, should i stir it around to ensure all the hop flavoring gets infused into the entire brew?

It'll be fine. The hops will sort of disintegrate, but as long as they are in contact with the beer at the top, they will be fine. I don't rock or shake the fermenter.

Ever make sun tea in a clear jug? Same thing here. It sort of slowly sinks down into the beer as the beer soaks the "tea" out of the pellets. But I got hop bags to make it a lil cleaner.
